Source Certain Founder and CTO Cameron Scadding recently spoke with FreshPlaza about the role independent origin verification plays in protecting the integrity and commercial value of Australia’s premium Bravo® apple brand.

The interview comes following the extension of Source Certain’s partnership with Fruit West Cooperative for a further five years, continuing one of the world’s first commercial scientific origin verification programmes for apples.

With more than 110 licensed orchards now growing the variety, the FreshPlaza feature looks at how independent verification enables WA Farm Direct to establish that fruit sold as Bravo® has come from an approved grower. In doing so, the programme protects the growers investing in the variety, strengthens the evidence behind the brand’s provenance claims and provides greater confidence as Bravo® continues to grow.

It’s a practical example of origin verification being used proactively: protecting brand value and giving organisations greater certainty before questions arise.
