We would like to share the latest published work of Ian Dadour, Forensic Entomologist and our Head of Research and Education.

This study focused on the larval and pupal development of the green bottle fly, with an emphasis on the changes in the external morphology of the puparium and its pupal content throughout the duration of metamorphosis. The overall developmental time, larval width and length, and inner and outer pupal morphology changes were observed and recorded.

The described pupal changes (the longest life history stage) matched with a Munsell colour index will allow better estimates of post-mortem intervals in cases of suspicious deaths.

The paper was jointly written with Dr Paola A. Magni (Murdoch University & Murdoch University Singapore) and Tharindu Bandara Bambaradeniya (Murdoch University).
